Two playful, lively souls with royal blood - Anna & Elsa - two ice princesses looking for their home Hello, we are Anna and Elsa - two beautiful King Pudel girls. Our names, by the way, were inspired by a very special fairy tale by the animal shelter staff (actually our servants and maids). But do we actually have the stuff to be little ice queens? You'll have to find out for yourself! We come from a litter of seven King Pudel puppies. Our birth was not really planned - but sometimes life holds surprises. Five of our siblings have already found their new homes. Now it's time for us to find people who fall in love with two gentle, white Pudel girls. King Pudels are considered exceptionally intelligent, affectionate and people-oriented dogs. They don't just want to be there, but to go through life with their humans, experience something and of course learn a lot. That's exactly what's on our agenda right now: the big dog-human multiplication table! Because let's be honest: We can't and don't know much yet. Housebreaking, leash training, basic commands and all the other things that are important for a harmonious coexistence, we have to learn first. But we bring something very decisive: curiosity and eagerness to learn. We look very similar. So that our caregivers and walkers can currently tell us apart, we wear differently colored collars. But anyone who gets to know us a bit better will surely recognize their very own favorite ice princess. We wish for people who are enthusiastic about showing two young dogs the world and accompanying them lovingly, patiently and consistently. A bit of dog experience would certainly be helpful. After all, there is not only a lot of Pudel power in us, but also a clever head that wants to be occupied. And who knows: Maybe our fairy tale names will soon become our very own story - a story of two sisters who waited for their humans at the animal shelter and finally got their own happy ending. Because like in the fairy tale, only true love counts. We look forward to getting to know you! Maybe the ice will already melt at the first meeting. ❄️🤍 Animal adoptions are currently only by appointment. We therefore ask you to contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by e-mail if you are interested in one of our animals.

About Elsa

What life with Elsa looks like

Elsa is a large puppy poodle dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elsa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elsa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elsa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elsa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Elsa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elsa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elsa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
