Elsie

Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

Elsie is a very playful, busy pup who likes to be constantly on the go and entertained. She's looking for a family that can keep up with her and wants to take her on lots of adventures that will keep her mid and body busy. She's great on her lead and tends to follow her nose a lot, and she does like to jump up to greet people. Elsie has practiced barking for attention and has chewed things left in her reach when left alone, so her adopters will need to manage this and will be able to have a chat with our training team about how best to set her up for success in her new home. Elsie is great with other dogs but if she's to live with one then playtime with toys will need to be supervised, as she does have a tendency to guard them from others. She is very playful when with other dogs, so friends will need to be tolerant of her youthful enthusiasm! Elsie has had some basic training but she's a smart girl and would do well with a family who are interested in putting a little time into seeing what else she is capable of. Elsie can live with other dogs and children of high school age. She is house trained but could use any solo time building up gradually.

About Elsie

What life with Elsie looks like

Elsie is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elsie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elsie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elsie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elsie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Elsie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elsie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elsie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
