Elur

Labrador Retriever · Male · 3 years

We can hardly imagine the life Elur had during the three years he was locked up in the dog pound; surely without ever stepping out of those four walls for the entire time. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have affected him, as he is a very affectionate dog with the volunteers; he loves being on top of us giving us little kisses on the face. He also adores lying down to bask in the sun or, if it's very hot, in the shade to stay cool. He is a social dog, both with people and other dogs. With people, he's all love; he lets himself be handled without any problem and always walks by our side. With other dogs, he's also social; he coexists with a female of the same size as him. However, he can be a bit dominant, so if he has a brother or sister, we recommend that it be more submissive or that a good introduction is made. Elur is a young dog who has spent more than half of his life in a cage without ever being able to go outside. Now he has the opportunity to be surrounded by volunteers who are not hesitant to fill him with love and affection, to take him out whenever possible, and to make his life at the animal shelter as good as possible. But as you can understand, that is not the life we want for him or his companions. That is why we hope that a family will soon take notice of Elur, make room for him in their home; because he will be just another piece of furniture, and do not hesitate to give him all the love he has not received in the last few years.

ES·Show original

About Elur

What life with Elur looks like

Elur is a large adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
