Elva (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

ELVA was born in September 2022, is about 45 cm tall, and has lived in the private animal shelter of our partner association ADOR since her puppyhood in the city of Botoșani, Romania. Regularly, animal welfare colleagues from Germany travel to Romania to get to know the dogs on site. We deliberately look for the dogs that came to the shelter at some point and were then simply overlooked over time. ELVA is exactly such a female dog. Already as a puppy, ELVA came to the animal shelter. Time passed, many other dogs were able to travel abroad – but no one has yet decided to take ELVA. Perhaps because she is not particularly small. Perhaps because she does not have an extraordinary fur pattern. But she has something that no other dog has: the most beautiful little floppy ears in the world. Above all, however, ELVA has a wonderful nature. Despite the long time in the kennel, she has preserved her joie de vivre. She loves people, greets everyone friendly – whether caregiver or foreign visitor. Over a treat, she is incredibly happy. Then she zips through her kennel full of enthusiasm, jumps onto her little house, back down, and can hardly believe her luck. When one passes by her kennel, ELVA immediately sticks her head out, looks hopefully behind, and simply wants to be seen. ELVA is a cheerful, people-oriented, and lovable female dog with so much potential. We are convinced that she will develop into a wonderful family dog – if someone finally gives her the chance. Who will give this forgotten soul her first home? ELVA is neutered, multi-vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and of course in possession of an EU passport. Contact: ELVA will be rehomed by Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. – with The association naturally has the §11 (Animal Welfare Act) in place. Even after adoption, we will continue to support you – for both human and animal. ELVA will travel to Germany and arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where she is also wanted to be picked up. There is a secured premises available.

About Elva (w)

What life with Elva (w) looks like

Elva (w) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elva (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elva (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elva (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elva (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elva (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elva (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elva (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
