ELVIS

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Elvis the Pelvis to the GAR main arena! He may be nothing but a hound dog, but boy…..he is the King! Elvis was rescued with a broken pelvis and found in the scorching sun (see final picture), the victim of a car hit-and-run. He was picked up and taken to the vets, came under our care where his pelvis was fixed and following his emergency treatment had physio sessions to ensure he was completely fit. Weighing in at 25kg, Elvis is actually a Swiss Hound with a fantastic character, and while a little timid to begin with, as some hounds can be, his charm shines through and he soon catches everyone’s heart. He's approximately three-years-old and loves to laze around, enjoying cuddles, rubs and being brushed. Elvis is microchipped, neutered and vaccinated and can’t wait to find his golden sofa in the UK… and we can't wait until we can say “Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building”! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADOPT ELVIS PLEASE CONTACT GILLIAN ON FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PRE-ADOPTION FORM ON THE HOMEPAGE Elvis is adorable, gentle and has a real good hound voice when he wants to sing After many months of nurturing, Elvis is putting on weight and the pelvis has healed nicely Elvis loves to be pampered He is always cautious with new people, checking them out to ensure his own safety and once satisfied you are cool he soon warms up to people, all of the vets and nurses adored him as his gentle sweet nature is irresistible, its just one of those ‘hound' things At the wellness centre Elvis has his own personal masseuse Today he is ready and waiting for his new adoptive family to find him Last year 2022 Elvis was confined to light duties whilst recovering at the Wellness Centre in Thessaloniki, he had been very poorly and underwent treatment Elvis rendition of ‘Its now or never' lol

About ELVIS

What life with ELVIS looks like

ELVIS is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Greek Animal Rescue in Athens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting ELVIS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ELVIS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Greek Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ELVIS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ELVIS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Greek Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ELVIS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ELVIS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Greek Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know ELVIS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
