Emie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

Emie is a small, still cautious and shy puppy dog who has already made a beautiful development since her rescue. Emie now comes closer on her own, shows curiosity and is easy to handle. She especially warms up to other dogs: She plays a lot with the other puppies and shows normal, happy puppy behavior. Now Emie needs above all one thing - her own home, where she can grow up protected, gain trust and finally be a carefree puppy. Emie is currently about 5 months old and weighs around 13 kg. For such a young dog, her start in life was unfortunately anything but easy. She was rescued together with two other puppies from the public shelter, where they continue to be killed in overcrowding. The three puppies managed to escape in time - but the traces of this difficult past are still noticeable in them. Of the three rescued puppies, Emie was initially the most fearful. She hardly let herself be touched, and even catching her in the kennel was difficult. She was so frightened during the necessary vaccination that she even snapped. All the more beautiful is her development: Emie now comes closer on her own, observes curiously what is happening around her, and is easy to handle. Especially when being with other dogs, she can relax and show her playful side. The shelter is not a suitable place for a puppy like Emie. Therefore, we wish her to move to a new home as soon as possible, before her uncertainty becomes more entrenched. She needs people who give her security and orientation and understand that trust does not develop overnight. In a quiet and patient environment, she can arrive and learn at her own pace, and learn that new situations can be safe and positive. Emie gets along well with her fellow dogs. A confident and secure first dog could give her valuable orientation in her new home and help her find her way faster. Cats have not been tested so far. The ABC of dogs is still ahead of her: house training, leash, car travel, everyday noises, staying alone and much more Emie has to learn first. A positively working dog school can be a valuable support. With loving, patient and clear guidance, she has all the opportunities to grow into a secure and happy family dog. Emie is still very young and has hardly had the opportunity to get to know the world outside the shelter. It is all the more important that she now gets the chance to catch up on everything that belongs to a carefree dog life - with new impressions, small adventures, play and above all people she can rely on. Whoever accompanies Emie with patience and empathy may experience how the cautious little puppy girl gradually becomes a curious, playful and carefree young dog. Emie travels with a microchip, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free with her valid EU pet passport to her new home. Due to her young age, she is not yet neutered. After a positive preliminary check, she can be placed for a deposit. Emie would also be very happy about a loving foster home. Many thanks Sabine S.! You gave Emie her name! Status: 26.09.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 26.09.2026

About Emie

What life with Emie looks like

Emie is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
