Emil

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 3 years

Emil, a 3-year-old, 50 cm tall, 23 kg castrated, chipped, and vaccinated dog, is looking for his forever home. He is a sensitive, loving dog who needs people who approach him with patience, calmness, and understanding. Once he trusts someone, he gives them his whole heart. Emil has already met cats in Bosnia and interacts with them calmly and peacefully. He loves people, both big and small, and is enthusiastic about every encounter. However, he has a lot of energy and can be quite boisterous when excited. He doesn't jump up on people. Emil is very friendly and playful with other dogs. He lives harmoniously with four other dogs at his foster home and shows no food jealousy. He loves exploring the world with his humans. Long walks, hikes, and time in nature make him happy. His nose is often on the ground, but he is not a sight hunter. A home with a garden would be his dream. He drives well and doesn't mind stairs. At home, he is quiet, house-trained, and doesn't destroy anything. Only his dog bed changes location occasionally, as he has his own sense of comfort. Emil likes to be close to his humans without being pushy. He has not been tested for being alone on the foster home, as he is very attached to his humans and enjoys their company. He is initially cautious in new situations but gains confidence with loving guidance and shows what a wonderful companion he is. Emil radiates joy, gentleness, and love. He is waiting for people who will give him time to settle in and go through life with him. Who will give this special treasure a loving home and show him how beautiful life can be?

About Emil

What life with Emil looks like

Emil is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emil, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emil?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emil on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emil if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emil already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emil isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emil and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
