Adopt Emily Erdbeere

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Female · Adult · 7 years

Emily Erdbeere is a very charming and lively female dog. She is active and sporty, enjoys long walks, and runs alongside bicycles. She might be enthusiastic about dog sports. She came to us through a seizure by the veterinary office, as there was an incident with another dog among her previous owners. For this reason, Emily is classified as potentially dangerous. She passed her behavioral assessment with distinction, but the muzzle and leash requirement still applies. During her stay at the animal shelter, she has learned a lot. With the right management, she can easily walk in a group, ignore other dogs, and walk properly on a leash. After a day’s work, she is also content to be a couch potato and enjoys relaxed cuddle time with her people. If there’s nothing exciting to do, she spends half the day under her blanket. Therefore, we can imagine that she can be left alone for some time after getting used to her new environment. In her lively nature, our energy bundle sometimes needs to be restrained. For example, it must be consistently prevented that people are greeted and jumped on out of joy and excitement without maintaining distance. For this reason, children should already be in their teenage years. Emily would like to be a single princess at home and, due to her pronounced hunting instinct, there should be no cats or small pets present. We wish for her a home with an enclosed garden so she can also run around freely without a muzzle and leash. However, husbandry in an apartment is not excluded. Please note: Emily Erdbeere was classified as potentially dangerous. For more information on dangerous dogs, see further down on this page under the section "Additional Information in Video Form." About Emily Erdbeere

What life with Emily Erdbeere looks like

Emily Erdbeere is a large adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim Hannover in Hannover.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Classified as dangerous dog - requires muzzle and leash at all times in public. Passed temperament test but has legal restrictions.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emily Erdbeere, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emily Erdbeere?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hannover handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emily Erdbeere on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emily Erdbeere if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hannover will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emily Erdbeere already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emily Erdbeere isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hannover early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emily Erdbeere and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
