Emma

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

The cat mother Emma chose a quiet backyard as a safe place for her kittens. The shelter quickly realized that if nothing was done, the area would soon be filled with cats. So the entire group was caught and given a whole room to adjust to. Emma was truly a wild cat, not just shy or cautious, but wild at heart - a mother who had become accustomed to protecting her kittens on the streets and keeping away from people. The shelter staff spoke to the cats every day - they helped them get used to human presence and tried to gain their trust. The kitten brothers gradually became more comfortable, and two of them found homes. However, the mother along with two of her sons moved to the shelter. Today, Emma is somewhat calmer, she no longer hisses, attacks or is as aggressive, but she still does not trust people. In the shelter, she spends her days quietly in the cat community, watching life from a distance, at her own pace, according to her own rules. She may never become a friendly cat, but she still needs her person. She needs a person who allows her simply to be. At home, there could be at least one friendly cat who would help Emmal make being with a person a little more understandable.

ET·Show original

Tekkis huvi? Täida ankeet ja paku kodu!

About Emma

What life with Emma looks like

Emma is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ in Estonia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
