Emma

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Klein Emma wants to be picked up from the animal shelter right away! She brings a lot of joie de vivre to her new home, as well as a desire for mischief and plenty of cuddles. It's not always easy to take good photos of a playful puppy, and Emma is no exception... Our friend Corinna tried everything during her summer visit to Miskolc, but Emma just wanted to cuddle, play and explore her surroundings. She's a normal, lively, funny little dog looking for her first home. We would very much like to see Emma, currently around 4 months old, on the next pickup trip so she can continue her childhood with loving people and in her own bed. Her start in life was far from easy. Just 7 weeks old, she was thrown into a trash can by homeless people - luckily, she was found immediately and taken in by the MASA team. She's been waiting here for her first family and growing into a very smart, clever and lively girl. It's possible that her ancestry includes a Mali or a Shepherd; Emma is very interested and eager to learn and wants to be kept busy and engaged. We can't predict how big she'll grow, unfortunately. Estimating the final size of a puppy without knowing the parents is pure guesswork. As a puppy adopter, you should simply let go of all expectations and enjoy what's sitting on the couch with you after the growth phase. Of course, a puppy in the house means not just cuteness and sugar shock, but also a lot of attention, work and, yes, probably chaos. Emma still needs to learn everything from house training to being left alone and needs a lot of time and attention, especially at first. For smart dogs, a visit to a good, positive dog school can be invaluable. Here, you can try out and find out a lot under expert guidance to grow into a great human-dog team and find the individually appropriate mix of bonding and training, activity and relaxation. Who falls in love with the sweet mouse and has the necessary calmness and nerve strength to bring some puppy chaos and "puberty cretinism" into their life? If you think you can give little Emma a beautiful home and feel confident that you can lovingly and confidently accompany her in her development, then please contact us. A foster home as a stepping stone to happiness would also be wonderful. Please read up on our website on the application process and around the topic of "dog" before contacting us. We have prepared detailed information materials for all areas. Please note the "self-disclosure" field below and send us this filled out first. After that, the mediator will also be happy to contact you by phone. Like all our dogs, Emma travels with an EU pet passport and Traces papers. She is then additionally freshly dewormed, treated with a spot-on against ectoparasites and tested for Giardia and possibly freshly treated. In addition, all dogs travel with a suitable safety harness and with a GPS tracker including 1 year premium subscription. Click on the "self-disclosure" link so that the PDF file opens. Depending on the browser, the file opens directly on the screen or must be clicked again at the bottom of the screen after it has been downloaded. You can fill in the fields of the file without additional programs and then click with the right mouse button in the document and select the option "save as" or "save as". Please select the storage location, e.g. the "Desktop" of your computer. The file name "Selbstauskunft_Canifair_" is predefined. Please add your family name after the last "_" so that we can better assign the file. Please remember to enter the dog's name in the first field at the top. If you now send an email to the mediator mentioned in the ad, please attach the saved self-disclosure. This gives us a first impression and makes the initial contact easier and faster. Your data will not be passed on to third parties and will only be used in the context of a dog inquiry or the requested adoption.

About Emma

What life with Emma looks like

Emma is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Canifair e.V. in Kaarst.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Canifair e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Canifair e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Emma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Canifair e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
