Steckbrief Hannes I tomcat I EKH I grizzled age: ~2012-2014 neutered: yes vaccinated: yes microchipped: yes In the new home: Off-leash: exclusively secured Off-leash: yes Caging: yes Important to know: Hannes values his freedom but requires human support due to his illness. Foster home or Endstelle für Hannes needed 🐾 Our neutered tomcat Hannes (ca. 12–14 years old) urgently seeks a understanding foster home or a loving forever home. Hannes lived many years as a stray at a feeding station. Due to an undiagnosed and untreated high blood pressure, he initially went blind. After medicating his blood pressure, some sight has returned to one eye. However, Hannes is blind in one eye and likely has limited vision in the other. His overall health is otherwise good: according to current blood tests, his organs are unremarkable. He requires his blood pressure tablets twice daily, and blood pressure checks should be conducted approximately every six months. We would cover the costs if needed. Hannes is not a cuddly cat and does not feel comfortable in his current environment. He is only moderately approachable with people and needs primarily: peace, understanding, and ample space. Due to his limited vision, only a home with a secured off-leash area (e.g., a cat-safe garden, enclosure, or large secured terrace) would be suitable for him. An unsecured off-leash area would be too dangerous for him. For Hannes, we are looking for people who do not expect a cuddly cat but want to give an older tomcat the chance to spend his twilight years in safety and with the freedom he so values. Who can give Hannes this special place? He has more than earned the chance to finally arrive. For interest or questions, we look forward to a message. This cat needs outdoor access.

❤️🐱 Nehmen Sie gern

About Endstelle für Hannes

What life with Endstelle für Hannes looks like

Endstelle für Hannes is a large senior cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach in Hilchenbach.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Endstelle für Hannes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Endstelle für Hannes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Endstelle für Hannes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Endstelle für Hannes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Endstelle für Hannes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Endstelle für Hannes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Endstelle für Hannes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
