Profile Sheila – Cat | Chartreux Mix | Gray and White Age: Born 2012 Neutered: Yes Vaccinated: Now vaccinated by us Microchipped: Yes Current Location: Sheila is currently in our foster home Outdoor Access: Yes Single Housing: Yes Compatibility with other animals: Not compatible with other cats Important to know: Due to her pancreas, she needs consistent appropriate food (low-fat and easily digestible) Sheila – An independent female cat seeks a quiet home Sheila, born in 2012, was already rehomed by us in 2014. After more than ten years in her previous home, she unfortunately returned to us, the reason being unsanitary behavior. Update on unsanitary behavior: The medical examination revealed that Sheila has a severe case of pancreatitis. This condition is quite painful for cats and can be life-threatening without treatment. In the foster home, Sheila shows no signs of unsanitary behavior. After switching to low-fat and easily digestible food, her health is continuously improving. In April 2026, we will be able to definitively determine if we have managed to control the inflammation of the pancreas. However, it should be considered that her gastrointestinal tract has been significantly affected by the disease, so a controlled and healthy diet will be a permanent topic. This will, however, be the only issue. Previously, Sheila was classified as an outdoor cat, eager to go outside to be happy. In the foster home, however, she shows no inclination to go into the specially prepared outdoor area or to explore it. On the contrary, at colder temperatures, she quickly returns indoors. Therefore, while the possibility of outdoor access is welcome, it is not necessary. Sheila spends many hours of the day looking for a place of her own, so we are seeking a quieter home where she can be a solitary princess.

In

About Sheila

What life with Sheila looks like

Sheila is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach in Hilchenbach.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sheila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sheila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sheila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sheila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sheila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sheila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Hilchenbach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sheila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
