adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Eric, a gentle companion for life. His journey began in the Horror Shelter Suraia, but now he is ready to embark on a new life—into a home that will offer him safety, love, and time. Eric is a handsome male dog in his prime years. At around 4 years old, he has already passed the wild phase of his teenage years, but his happiest years lie ahead. He has a medium size of 55 cm. His fur has an incredible pattern in various shades of color. He has a calm temperament and is not easily agitated. Eric is very people-oriented. Especially sweet: he will sit down completely obediently to get attention and cuddles. It's clear how much he longs for affection and security. Sometimes he shows that he is stressed. But who wouldn't be? The constant noise takes a toll on most. Putting on a leash is currently still a challenge for him. As soon as he sees one, he retreats to his hut. We therefore assume that he has had bad experiences with it in the past. With patience, understanding, and loving guidance, however, he will certainly learn to trust. Living in a household will also be new to Eric. But we are sure that Eric will master every challenge with empathy and the right companionship. Eric is also compatible with other dogs. A confident only dog would therefore be a wonderful way for Eric to orient himself. But of course, he can also be part of a family that wants to focus entirely on him. Eric travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He has his EU Companion Animal Passport in his luggage. Would you like to become Eric's "Partner in Crime" and accompany him on the way to a happy future? A big thank you also goes to the -Community! Thanks to your namesake patronage, Eric has an identity and the chance to receive a warm dog bed. We also thank Ferdinand K. from Clever Homes House Management for taking on a monthly patronage. As of: 30.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Eric

What life with Eric looks like

Eric is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eric, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eric?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eric on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eric if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eric already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eric isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eric and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
