Erika

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 1 year

I am Erika. They say I'm a little fighter - and I think there is some truth to that. Before coming to the shelter, I was a stray. Life on the streets was tough and left its marks. When I was found, I was injured and very weak. Unfortunately, my tail could not be saved, so it had to be amputated. But you know what? That doesn't hold me back at all! I am a cheerful, curious and lively cat who wants to enjoy life to the fullest. My missing tail doesn't bother me in any way - I love climbing, playing and discovering my world just like any other cat. At first, I am a bit cautious with people. Trust needs to grow for me. But if you give me time, I will surprise you with my cuddly and loving nature. Once I have closed you in my heart, I enjoy every caress and delight in your closeness. I get along well with other cats - however, you should know that I like to be in charge. I am a confident lady who knows exactly what she wants. A calm cat friend who isn't intimidated by this would be a great housemate for me. Now all I need is one thing: a home where I can finally arrive. People who love me as I am - with my past, my little stubby tail and my big heart. Maybe you are waiting for my forever home. I would be happy if we start a new chapter together. Your Erika 🧡

DE·Show original

Aber weißt du was? Deine Erika 🧡

About Erika

What life with Erika looks like

Erika is a large young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg in Wolfsberg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Erika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Erika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Erika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Erika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Erika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Erika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Wolfsberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Erika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
