Adopt Esmino

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

14-09-2018 - Our Esmino is as fragile as a little bird and we live with a thousand thoughts and fears. In his battered little body, we see two of our creatures for which we have fought so much and loved just as much: Esmeralda and Tizianella. Two stories already lived that touch our hearts. Esmino has great need of care. He is so small; we must get him back on his feet and wait for him to grow a bit so he can withstand the anesthesia. For now, he is undergoing treatment. We need wet food, healing type Recovery from Royal. Thank you to anyone who can help us. 12-09-2018 - He was rescued in Putzolu, he arrived at us hungry and in pain, with his right hind leg now a dead weight. Maybe hit by a car, maybe a severe trauma, we don't know. That leg that drags along, how many memories... How many emergencies for us every day. Sometimes I think, will we be able to face all this? We always have to hope that someone helps us, supports us; we are not a clinic, we are just an animal shelter that lives on donations and the veterinarians, the medicines, the diagnostic tests, we can afford them only with the help of our supporters. We have only you. Tomorrow Esmino will be taken to the clinic, we will update you as soon as possible. Click on the photos to enlarge them!

Domani Esmino verrà portato in clinica, vi aggiorneremo appena possibile. Clicca sulle foto per ingrandirle!

About Esmino

What life with Esmino looks like

Esmino is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Esmino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Esmino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Esmino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Esmino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Esmino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Esmino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Esmino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
