Adopt Estella FeLV

Mixed Breed · Female

Estella – little fighter with a big heart. Estella is a young female cat who has never given up despite a difficult start in life. She is positive for feline leukemia and was once very sick - we had to fight for her for a long time. When she had lost weight to only 700 g and the fever seemed hardly controllable, she pulled herself together once again and showed what an incredible little fighter she is. Probably Estella will never be completely healthy. But currently she is a cheerful, playful and energetic little mouse who enjoys life. With her almost five months, she loves to run around and play and suffers greatly from not having a playmate to wrestle with. She simply does not understand why she suddenly has to sit alone and is no longer allowed to play with other cats. Due to the intensive care and close contact with her caretakers, Estella has developed a special bond with people.

About Estella FeLV

What life with Estella FeLV looks like

Estella FeLV is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) in Aurich.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Estella FeLV, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Estella FeLV?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Estella FeLV on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Estella FeLV if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Estella FeLV already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Estella FeLV isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Estella FeLV and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
