Adopt Evan

Male · Adult · 4 years

Evan has come a long way to reach our animal shelter. He has scars that indicate that life was not kind to him and he still leads it as an unnoticed, young, small dog in a large animal shelter. He approaches unfamiliar people with caution, but also with interest. With other dogs he is reserved - he has a rather limited social skills repertoire, although he can have a short chat with familiar female dogs. On the other hand, he is afraid of strangers, especially larger dogs, and in their presence he loses his composure. The same goes for new situations - unknown spaces can initially effectively hinder him - he needs more time to feel safe enough in a new place to regain his good mood. Along known routes, he walks slowly: he likes to stop by almost every patch of grass, bush, tree. And to contemplate. Outside the animal shelter he reaches ZEN, and a fast pace is definitely not his style - he prefers philosophical strolls. Walking on a leash was new for him - everything indicates that Evan lived on a farm until now, ran freely, never asked anyone's opinion on this matter, and learned to walk on it here, in the animal shelter. We also suspect that Evan never had a real home, so we are looking for people who have some experience in caring for a dog and will be ready to slowly introduce him to home life. Ideally, he should live in a quiet area, where he could slowly get used to street traffic, home life and his humans without being exposed to a multitude of external stimuli. It is possible that the company of a nice female dog would be support for him, but it is not a condition for adoption.

Evan przebył długą drogę, by dotrzeć do naszego schroniska. I kontemplować. Najlepiej, by zamieszkał w spokojnej okolicy, gdzie mógłby powoli oswajać się z ruchem ulicznym, domowym życiem i swoimi ludźmi bez wystawiania go na mnogość bodźców zewnętrznych. Marcin 502712256 Tomasz 602789134

About Evan

What life with Evan looks like

Evan is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires slow introduction to home life, needs quiet environment away from traffic and stimuli

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Evan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Evan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Evan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Evan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Evan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Evan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Evan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
