Evridiki came to the volunteers in May 2020, after being rescued from the street with her brother Orfeas. These kittens were less than two months old and lived with their mother, next to a main road in Amorgos. We prefer not to take kittens away from their mother, but unfortunately both kittens suffered from respiratory diseases and eye infections, to the point where their lives were feared. Although Evridiki's health has improved, she has lost her eyesight due to the infection. Evridiki is a friendly and sweet cat. Evridiki gets along very well with other cats and dogs, but not with too many of them. This is because she does not feel very comfortable in a place where there are many cats and/or dogs due to her blindness. Evridiki can be placed in a family with children. Evridiki will only be placed as an indoor cat. Update September 2021: Evridiki visited the vet last week and had her eyes examined. The vet says that as long as they do not cause problems, they do not need to be removed. During this visit, blood was taken at the same time. The result is that Evridiki is negative for Fiv and Felv, but positive for FIP (with a titer of 1/1600). This value is quite high. Fortunately, she has no symptoms at the moment, but this could change. Evridiki will not be placed with other cats, only with cats that are also FIP positive. Update January 2023: The beautiful Evridiki is now 2.5 years old. She has spent her whole life in a room with the volunteers. Although Evridiki has tested positive for FIP, she has never shown symptoms of the disease. The vet considers her a perfect, healthy cat. She would love to have her own little house. Update June 2024: Evridiki is doing very well. Although she is blind, she wants to know everything that is happening around her and is very curious. She also loves to be petted. Evridiki has been diagnosed with FIP, but so far she has no health problems. When she came to our center as a kitten, she had to be treated for her eyes and respiratory tract, but after that she has not needed any more medication.

Evridiki kwam in mei 2020 naar de vrijwilligsters, nadat zij was gered van de straat met haar broer Orfeas. Deze kittens waren nog geen twee maanden oud en woonden bij hun moeder, naast een centrale weg in Amorgos. We halen liever geen kittens weg bij hun moeder, maar helaas leden beide kittens aan luchtwegaandoeningen en ooginfecties, in die mate dat er gevreesd werd voor hun leven. Hoewel Evridiki’s gezondheid is verbeterd, heeft zij toch haar gezichtsvermogen verloren door de infectie. Evridiki is een vriendelijke en lieve poes. Evridiki gaat heel goed samen met andere katten en honden, maar niet met te veel hiervan. Dit, omdat zij zich door haar blindheid niet zo comfortabel voelt op een plek waar veel katten en/of honden aanwezig zijn. Evridiki kan in een gezin met kinderen worden geplaatst. Evridiki wordt alleen als binnenkat geplaatst. Update september 2021: Evridiki is vorige week bij de dierenarts geweest en zij heeft de ogen onderzocht. De dierenarts geeft aan dat deze, zolang ze geen problemen geven, niet verwijderd hoeven te worden. Tijdens dit bezoek is er gelijk bloed afgenomen. De uitslag is dat Evridiki negatief voor Fiv en Felv is, maar positief voor FIP (met een titer van 1/1600). Deze waarde is vrij hoog. Gelukkig heeft zij op dit moment geen symptomen maar dit zou kunnen veranderen. Evridiki zal dan ook niet geplaatst worden bij andere katten, enkel bij katten die ook FIP positief zijn. Bij Evridiki is FIP vastgesteld, maar tot nu toe heeft ze geen gezondheidsproblemen. Toen ze als kitten in ons centrum kwam, moest ze behandeld worden voor haar ogen en luchtwegen, maar daarna heeft ze geen medicijnen meer nodig gehad.
