Fado

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

FADO is about 8 years old, and he spent six of them behind the shelter's bars. He arrived there with his brother after being removed from bad conditions. Terrified of the world, people, and touch, he learned for a long time that humans could be good. Today, FADO is a completely different dog. He needs a moment to trust, but once he feels safe, he comes for pats and closeness. He loves walking in the forest, sniffing, and exploring the world with his nose. He is amazed by his unique, striped coat and soft fur. It is really beautifully colored dog, hard to forget. He loves treats. He gets along well with appropriate dogs. He still can enjoy life despite everything he has been through. The saddest thing is that the best years of his life are passing him by in the shelter... And he really deserves a quiet home, patience, and a person who will not let him down again. Maybe it's you who can change his fate? If you can't adopt, share. It costs nothing, but it can mean everything for him.

PL·Show original

Dziś FADO to zupełnie inny pies. Potrzebuje chwili, żeby zaufać, ale kiedy już poczuje się bezpiecznie, sam podchodzi po głaski i bliskość. Uwielbia spacery po lesie, węszenie i odkrywanie świata swoim noskiem. Zachwyca swoim wyjątkowym, pręgowanym umaszczeniem i miękką sierścią.

About Fado

What life with Fado looks like

Fado is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fado, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fado?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fado on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fado if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fado already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fado isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fado and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
