Fado

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

Fado is a young, about 2-year-old puppy with an extremely delicate and sensitive heart. This is one of those dogs that don't immediately run into a person's arms - they first observe, try to understand the new situation and need a moment to feel safe. New places, sounds or people can initially stress him. That's why Fado is looking for a caregiver who will give him time, patience and calmness. But once he feels that nothing is threatening him... magic begins. After a short time, Fado opens up and shows his true face - he becomes an extremely friendly, kind and loyal dog. He loves human closeness, seeks it himself and very much appreciates it. He can gently approach, lean against, or sometimes jump onto someone's knees, as if saying: "this is my place". This is a puppy that builds a relationship calmly, but very deeply. Fado likes to play, but does so in his own style - gently and with sensitivity. He enjoys every moment spent with a person and subtly encourages shared play. Currently, he is learning to walk on a leash. He still needs support, but with each day he makes progress and is becoming better at finding his way during walks. With the right approach, he will surely gain confidence quickly. He gets along well with other dogs - he can be a calm, non-confrontational companion. He doesn't look for problems, rather observes and adapts to the situation. Fado is a dog for a person who will understand his sensitivity and give him space to develop his wings at his own pace. In return, he will give his whole heart and be a faithful, calm companion in everyday life.

PL·Show original

Fado to młody, około 2-letni piesek o niezwykle delikatnym i wrażliwym sercu.

About Fado

What life with Fado looks like

Fado is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fado, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fado?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fado on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fado if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fado already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fado isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fado and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
