Fanchito

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Fanchito – A faithful companion with a heart as big as his paws! Our Fanchito lived the first years on a farm with another female dog, but due to age-related circumstances, the owners could no longer keep them, so the two came to our local animal shelter. Fanchito had never experienced human closeness and love until now, so he doesn’t know how to walk on a leash – our Fanchito is a free spirit who needs to learn how wonderful human closeness can be. In the animal shelter, Fanchito shows himself as a neat-freak, after every nap, he makes his bed, cleans the feeding bowls, so they can be used right away, and he takes care of every tiny speck of dust that gets between his paws 😉 In dealing with people and other fellow animals, he is still a bit awkward and doesn’t quite know how to interpret some gestures. Therefore, in stressful situations for him, he may tend to growl or show his teeth, but these can be overcome with love, care, and a little *magic* aka training. Fanchito is actually a very friendly and cheerful young dog who simply didn’t get the break he deserved and now needs some help in dealing with his fears. Outside the enclosure, Fanchito is a real powerhouse: he loves to run around, let his playful side out, and simply enjoy the freedom. We are therefore looking for a family that is just as active as our sunshine, can handle the exhaustion he urgently needs, and simply brings a lot of patience to show him that life is wonderful. Fanchito is a real water rat and would definitely enjoy being a forever dog on the farm. Together with the right people who love him just as he is, our little cutie would definitely be the happiest dog in the world.

About Fanchito

What life with Fanchito looks like

Fanchito is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fanchito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fanchito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fanchito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fanchito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fanchito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fanchito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fanchito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
