Feathers

Female · Puppy · 10 months

Feathers is a truly special little girl, a soft and affectionate sweetheart with a playful spark just waiting to shine. She has lovely bursts of fun and energy, beautifully balanced by her gentle side, and she absolutely adores quiet cuddles once she feels comfortable. Watching Feathers grow in confidence is incredibly rewarding. Each day brings something new, whether it’s a wag of her tail, a playful moment, or her choosing to come and snuggle that little bit closer. She forms such lovely bonds with her people, and with time, patience, and plenty of reassurance, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. If you are looking for a dog you can build a truly special bond with, one who will fill your home with warmth, softness, and joy, Feathers could be the perfect addition to your life. Meet Feathers, a seven-month-old Lurcher with the most precious soul and so much love just waiting to be shared. This lovely girl may be a little unsure at first, but she doesn’t take long to come out of her shell — and when she does, you’ll begin to see her gentle, affectionate nature alongside her playful little “pocket rocket” side. Feathers will need to be the only pet in the home, but she could enjoy having some calm, friendly walking companions to help her build positive experiences. She is still learning about the world and other dogs, so will need a kind and patient family who can gently continue her socialisation at her own pace. She can live with secondary school–aged children, and as she is still young, Feathers would benefit from owners who are around most of the time initially to help her settle and feel safe and secure.

About Feathers

What life with Feathers looks like

Feathers is a medium-sized puppy/kitten dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury in Telford.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Note from the shelter: Needs to be only pet in home, requires patient socialization, needs owners home most of the time initially

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feathers, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feathers?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shrewsbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feathers on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feathers if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shrewsbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feathers already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feathers isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shrewsbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feathers and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
