Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Kirby took a small detour before arriving at our shelter. At first glance, Kirby is not noticeable because when you saw her at the shelter during opening hours, only a yellow leash hung out of a doghouse - no sign of a dog. We always knew where our little Kirby was, and when it was quieter at the shelter or another dog was around, Kirby would show herself. She is curious in any case. Kirby has already won a few hearts here, and so she quickly moved to a training place where she can finally look at the big world at her own pace and with a lot of dog support and learn how to deal with it. Kirby is very uncertain in dealing with us humans. She doesn't know how to behave or what we want from her. She is always close to her humans, but doesn't want to be touched yet. She has a harmonious contact with other dogs. She communicates very clearly and also reacts very well to the communication of the other dogs. With Kirby, you have to look very closely, because then you see how wonderful this dog is. We are glad that you are with us, you little rough diamond. Kirby has already been on her training place for a while. She is house trained, can be left alone and wriggles through the dog group. She shows herself to be compatible with all dogs at our shelter. She loves being in the garden and playing with the other dogs or lying on the couch and relaxing. She now lets herself be touched and makes a few steps towards us humans. She likes to go for walks and walks well on a leash. Here, of course, she is still cautious, but orients herself well to her human. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite fit with Kirby and her foster mother, so we believe that Kirby can and will make much more and better progress with a person of her choice. Because there is so much joie de vivre and energy in the little one. We are looking for a home for Kirby with fear dog experience, where one or more dogs already live, as well as people who give Kirby time, but are also willing to teach her the little dog multiplication table. Someone will enjoy that

About Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle

What life with Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle looks like

Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kirby -auf Dauerpflegestelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
