Felix

Male · Young · 3 years

Hello, I am Felix, I ended up in the animal shelter because I didn't get along well with my old family, especially with the little daughter, and she probably nibbled on me, but maybe she just annoyed me. Now that I'm in the animal shelter, I'm happy, finally treated for fleas and dewormed, and I finally have enough food. This is very important for a young tomcat like me, so I don't fall behind in my development. After the quarantine period, which was quite nerve-wracking, I was finally allowed to move into a cat room. Here, I'm a bit reserved, but I'm open and curious. I get along well with the other cats and observe how they handle the situations here. However, I can be a bit too pushy for some. I need to learn that not every cat can handle my assertive nature. Age-appropriately, I'm still very playful and love being petted. I also enjoy cuddles, but then I show my typical cat behavior that it can get too much for me eventually. My caretakers say they wish for a quiet home with a free roam for me. I would also get along well with a confident second cat. Due to my history and bad experiences with children, any existing children should already have experience with cats and be able to accept it when it gets too much for me. If you're interested, give the animal shelter a call and arrange a meet-and-greet, I would be very happy!. This cat needs outdoor access.

Euer Felix

About Felix

What life with Felix looks like

Felix is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Felix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Felix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Felix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Felix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Felix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Felix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Felix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
