Fenek

Male · Young · 1 year

Fenek stands out from afar because of his large ears, which he owes his name to. We don't know his past, but we suspect he once had a caregiver. In the enclosure, he often stands right by the bars and patiently looks for a person. As soon as the doors open, Fenek is the first to rush out, as if wanting to show that the animal shelter is not a place for him. Fenek is energetic and gets excited about going out for walks. Sometimes, due to excess energy, he chews on the leash and jumps on volunteers. Other dogs arouse his curiosity. He has a lot of unused energy and eagerly explores the world around him. Fenek loves people and enjoys cuddling. During walks, he can be cautious - he reacts to rustles and new stimuli, and in moments of uncertainty, he seeks the closeness of a volunteer. This is a dog for a patient person who will help him manage his emotions and build a sense of security. In a home environment, Fenek has a chance to fully open up and become a loyal, wonderful companion for many years.

PL·Show original

Ma w sobie dużo niewykorzystanej energii i z zainteresowaniem eksploruje otaczający go świat.

About Fenek

What life with Fenek looks like

Fenek is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs patient owner to help with emotional regulation and building confidence

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fenek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fenek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fenek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fenek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fenek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fenek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fenek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
