Fenja

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

spayed, microchipped, not neutered foster home Fenja is a loving, young female dog, very gentle and affectionate to her people, loyal and grateful. Finya is smart and learns with joy. But unfortunately, she has had a lot of bad luck. Due to circumstances that Finya is not responsible for, she has already had to change two owners. And now we are once again searching for a home for her. Finya came to Germany as a small, sweet, and very people-oriented puppy. But unfortunately, the family circumstances of her first owner changed, and she could no longer devote the necessary time to the puppy. After a while, Finya had to search for a new home. But even there, she had no luck: Her new owners could not even afford the costs for her food after only a few months due to financial difficulties. The frequent changes and lack of attention have caused Finya to be afraid of being left alone. She cannot be left alone without making a big fuss and crying. Currently, Finya is in a foster home where a trainer is working with her. She is making progress, but she can only be left alone for about 15 minutes at the moment. Unfortunately, Finya has other problems: The once sweet and playful puppy, who loved other dogs, now shows reticence and rejection towards fellow animals. Even strangers cause her tension. However, the foster home reports that Finya is very learnable and that the training shows positive effects. But starting next week, the foster home must return to work, and the neighbors will not accept that Finya howls for several hours. Therefore, we must once again search for a temporary home for Finya. We are looking for an experienced, calm person who can help Finya gain self-confidence and become a happy, playful female dog again.

DE·Show original

About Fenja

What life with Fenja looks like

Fenja is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. in Gladbeck.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fenja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fenja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fenja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fenja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fenja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fenja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fenja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
