Ferdie

Border Collie · Male · Puppy · 3 months

This stunning trio are 12 weeks old and will grow to be active dogs so are looking for homes who love the active lifestyle as much as they do! These brothers would love to find homes where they will be treated as part of the family at all times. True to their breed, Ferdie and his brothers are clever pups and will thrive with families who have a genuine interest in training and enrichment to keep their minds busy. If you feel one of these adorable pups could be a good fit for your home, please submit an application and don't forget to "favourite" Ferdie! Ferdie, Fletcher and Foster are super sweet Collie puppies who are super excited to find their forever homes! Ferdie and his brothers are looking for families who will encourage them with all their basic puppy training, including housetraining and socialisation. A large, enclosed garden space will be a great help with this as well as giving them somewhere to burn their puppy energy! They could share their homes with other pets, providing adopters are happy to manage interactions initially. These brothers could live with dog savvy children as long as they are confident around bouncy, nippy puppies. As these pups are not used to being left alone, they will appreciate company during the day until leaving hours can be built gradually.

About Ferdie

What life with Ferdie looks like

Ferdie is a large puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ferdie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ferdie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ferdie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ferdie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ferdie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ferdie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ferdie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
