Adopt Sassy

Border Collie · Female · Puppy · 8 months

Behind her worries, Sassy is an incredibly affectionate little girl with so much love to give. She absolutely adores cuddles and will happily hop onto your lap for fuss, flashing her big smile and wiggly body whenever she’s getting attention from her favourite people. When she’s feeling relaxed, she’s just as happy curling up by your feet while you go about your day, content simply being close to you. Although toys can occasionally catch her interest, Sassy’s favourite thing in the world is spending quality time with her humans, whether that’s exploring quiet walking routes together or enjoying cosy evenings at home after a day of adventures. In calmer settings where she feels safe, her sweet and friendly personality really shines through, and it’s easy to picture the wonderful bond she’ll build with someone willing to guide her gently through life. Meet the scrumptious little Sassy, a seven-month-old Terrier cross who is looking for patient adopters and an understanding home. Still very young and learning about the world, Sassy can find busy environments and loud noises overwhelming, so she would love a quieter home in a smaller town, residential area or more rural location with her own secure garden to potter around in. She’ll need patient adopters who are happy to gradually build up her confidence with things like being left alone and longer car journeys. Sassy will need to be walked at quieter times on more peaceful routes, as she can be reactive to other dogs. Sassy could live with sensible secondary school-aged children who understand when she needs space, and she would prefer to be the only pet in the home where she can soak up all the love and attention for herself. Once she’s had the chance to settle, Sassy will be happy meeting new visitors, as long as introductions can happen calmly indoors.

About Sassy

What life with Sassy looks like

Sassy is a large puppy/kitten border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Shoreham in Shoreham by Sea.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sassy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sassy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Shoreham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sassy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sassy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Shoreham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sassy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sassy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Shoreham early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sassy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
