FIGARO

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 6 years

Status: Found Breed: European Sex: Male Microchip: 967000010643881 Born: 13/04/2020 Country: Belgium Arrived at shelter: 10/04/2026 FIGARO is an adorable male European cat, a former stray, who carries a great sensitivity within him. At first, he may appear fearful, but he has so much love to offer to those who will take the time to help him adapt. He is FIV positive and must live in an apartment. He can cohabitate with one or more other FIV-positive cats. Figaro will thrive in a calm home without children or dogs, with patient and gentle people who are ready to respect his pace, because Figaro does not give himself to just anyone… but once he feels secure, he offers a rare and precious attachment. Finally, he deserves a home where he can feel safe and loved. If FIGARO has touched your heart, contact us only by phone at 02 204 49 50 for more information. If you reside in Wallonia, adoption is only possible with a permit to keep an animal. This animal is not suitable for homes with young children.

About FIGARO

What life with FIGARO looks like

FIGARO is an adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting FIGARO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about FIGARO?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw FIGARO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt FIGARO if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is FIGARO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if FIGARO isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know FIGARO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
