JOKER

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 10 years

JOKER is a sweet, gentle, and affectionate European shorthair male cat. He is very friendly, calm, and has a big heart. He purrs a lot, enjoys chatting, and will bring a warm and comforting presence to his new home. He is clean, comfortable in an apartment, and can handle being alone, making him a wonderful companion. JOKER suffers from kidney failure and will require lifelong treatment with SEMINTRA and a special diet, such as VIRBAC VIKALY. For this reason, an indoor life or a very controlled outdoor access will be preferable to ensure he eats his special food and stays safe. He can live with respectful children and will be perfect for gentle, attentive adopters who are serious about his medical care. His compatibility with other cats and dogs is not yet known, so a meeting or gradual introduction will be necessary depending on the situation. If you would like to open your heart to this sweet cat and give him a good life despite his fragility, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50. We will be happy to talk to you about him and arrange a meeting. Adoption is only possible with a "permit to keep an animal" for those who are domiciled in Wallonia.

About JOKER

What life with JOKER looks like

JOKER is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting JOKER, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about JOKER?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw JOKER on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt JOKER if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is JOKER already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if JOKER isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know JOKER and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
