Adopt Figo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Hello…… I'm Figo! So…. after waiting for a family for such a long time now (almost 3 years)… I decided to take matters into my own paws and introduce myself. As already mentioned, my name is Figo (named after a famous football player). Was it the right name for me? Well, my foster mom always says I should have been called Tornado… whatever she means by that. Okay, I have bees in my bottom. Others say I have ADHD…. Total nonsense, I'm just fidgety and a bit active… but at the same time, I'm a real cuddle bear once you get to know me. As a puppy, I was open, a bit shy, and I liked all the other animals. Unfortunately, something went wrong…. I don't want to talk about it further…. But since then, I've had a great fear of other dogs. Actually, I like other dogs and enjoy playing with them. My foster mom says I can get along with any other dog. I just need to get to know them first. With strangers, it's somewhat similar. Some I like right away. Usually, those who speak kindly to me. But those who are unknown to me and act dominant from the start, I don't like. If you're wondering how I show my fear…. I have a clear answer. I'm so afraid of being bitten that I put on a tough act and bark aggressively while moving forward.

About Figo

What life with Figo looks like

Figo is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Figo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Figo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Figo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Figo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Figo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Figo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Figo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
