Lexa

Mixed Breed · Female

Hello…. I am Lexa. I was born in beautiful Greece and grew up on the streets. Around 4-5 years old, I was brought to an animal shelter because I was no longer wanted where I lived. The life on the streets and my ancestors have shaped and defined my character. I am self-assured and open-minded. I find people interesting and I love my trusted people and passersby. However, I am not a dog who loves every person the moment they meet. I respect strangers and would also like to receive this respect in return. It doesn't matter to me whether they are young or older people. When I came to Germany, I had to adapt to life here. I was directly rehomed into a family from another organization. Before that, I lived in a group of dogs and had to make decisions for myself. Now, I shouldn't have to do that anymore. Since I didn't have the character of a well-trained Labrador, I had to move out after a few days and was brought to Tierasyl our shelter. Here, I could settle in and quickly realized that I no longer had to make decisions. I found people who would take care of that for me. I love these people and everyone says I am so loving. Actually, I don't want to make decisions and here, I didn't have to. Then, I had a bit of luck… my new owner saw me… I saw him and we became a team.

About Lexa

What life with Lexa looks like

Lexa is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lexa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe-Moskito e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
