Fiji

Male · Young · 2 years

Support and Health How much training will I need? Needs ongoing support Can I be left alone? Potentially, once settled As Fiji is a stray, we don’t know whether he has been left home alone. He does enjoy the company of people so he is looking for owners who are around most of the time and can build this up gradually. Do I have any medical conditions? None This pet has a clean bill of health and can be fully insured after rehoming. Who I can live with Can I live with dogs? No Can I live with cats? No Can I live with small pets? No Additional information Fiji loves other dogs but can sometimes get frustrated and bark at them from a distance. He is having some training to help him with this which will need to be continued in his new home. He is best as the only pet in the home at the moment but can have some sociable walking buddies. Family and environment What kind of family am I looking for? Fiji is a big, bouncy dog in need of some training so we think he would be best with children aged 11 years+, although this could be lowered for the right family. What type of environment would suit me? Fiji is an adventurous, energetic boy so he does need a secure, private garden with a minimum 6ft fencing where he can stretch his legs and have some off-lead fun. About Fiji Meet Fiji. Fiji is a long-legged Lurcher who is ready to take you on an adventure! This playful boy is always looking to reach new heights, whether that’s bouncing around the garden, exploring new places, or enjoying fun games with her favourite people. Don’t let his adventurous spirit fool you though; beneath his mountain-sized enthusiasm is a sweet and affectionate soul who loves spending quality time with those he trusts. Fiji has the perfect balance of energy and gentleness, making him a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a dog who’s both exciting and loving. With his bold personality and soft-hearted nature, Fiji is sure to peak your interest and climb his way straight into your heart!

About Fiji

What life with Fiji looks like

Fiji is a large young adult dog waiting at Woodgreen Pets Charity in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiji, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiji?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Woodgreen Pets Charity handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiji on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiji if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Woodgreen Pets Charity will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fiji already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiji isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Woodgreen Pets Charity early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiji and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
