Fikuś

Male · Adult · 5 years

We present to you Filigranowy Fikus - a dog who hasn't had luck in life... Fikuś is a dog who was adopted as a puppy, and now after 4 years is facing the fate of a homeless dog. Fikuś is a cheerful little dog. He gives his whole heart to people and quickly becomes attached to new people. He shows love in many ways: approaches, allows himself to be petted, jumps on laps and looks at us with that chestnut gaze waiting for a treat. One might even say he is dependent on humans. Fiki can't stay away from him even for a step. When the human is not within his sight, it causes him such frustration that he destroys his crate! His future caregiver should take care to allocate Fikus a space for rest in the new home and not focus all of their attention on the dog. Fiki is very young, crazy, and full of adventures. He would be delighted to accompany an active Caregiver on long walks, running, or cycling. Additionally, Fiki would be an ideal amateur in dog sports such as nose work, frisbee, or agility. He learns very quickly, is extremely obedient, and eagerly awaits new challenges! As a puppy, Fiki was not well socialized with dogs and doesn't always know how to behave in direct contact. From our observations, he doesn't show aggressive behavior towards other dogs. His future caregiver should provide Fiki with thoughtful interactions with other dogs. The beginning at the animal shelter was difficult for Fiki, although he quickly got used to the new conditions. We suspect it won't take much time for him to acclimate to a new home. We dream that Fikuś will find his place on earth by the side of a person who understands the dog's needs. Fikuś would best fit in a house with a garden far away from the city's noise. We don't know his attitude towards children and cats. We encourage you to follow our social media, where you will find more photos and videos of Fikus:

About Fikuś

What life with Fikuś looks like

Fikuś is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Separation anxiety - destroys his kennel when left alone, needs gradual socialization with other dogs

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fikuś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fikuś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fikuś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fikuś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fikuś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fikuś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fikuś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
