Adopt Fikus

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 1 month

Hi, I'm Fikus! I'm a small, very friendly puppy, born in June 2015. My story is long and a bit complicated. As a puppy I ended up at an animal shelter on July 16, 2015, but the next day someone adopted me. I thought it was the start of a great life, but unfortunately on November 29, 2024, I ended up back at the animal shelter, this time in Bytom. They said I was running around in Gierałtowice, but how did I get there? I don't know. Fortunately, Psitulm took me. Unfortunately, it turned out I had health problems - I couldn't defecate without pain. The doctors found out I have a rectal prolapse and an anal hernia. I had surgery and was also castrated. Today I feel much better and am slowly recovering. The staff at the animal shelter tried to contact my former owner, but she claimed she never adopted me and doesn't like dogs at all... Sad, right? Despite that, I'm a cheerful and well-behaved dog. I take care of my cleanliness and love people. Petting? That's my favorite activity! I dream of a warm, quiet home where I will be surrounded by the love of my people. Maybe you will be the one who gives me a new, better life?I found a family in Zabrze :-) 17.07.2015Fikus is a 6-week-old puppy who arrived at the animal shelter on July 16, 2015 from Męczenników Majdanka street in Zabrze.

Smutne, prawda? Mimo tego, jestem wesołym i grzecznym psem. Bardzo dbam o czystość i uwielbiam ludzi. Głaskanie? To moje ulubione zajęcie!

About Fikus

What life with Fikus looks like

Fikus is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fikus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fikus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fikus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fikus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fikus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fikus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fikus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
