adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Filipo has found his own home! His story: Filipo is waiting for you in Schönefeld! Filipo is a dog who captivates with his charm. With his fluffy white fur, dark round eyes, and his cheerful, friendly nature, he melts even the most cautious hearts in record time. He was surrendered by his breeder and can now finally experience what it means to be part of a daily routine in a loving foster home in Germany. The little man is likely a Pomeranian – a cheerful, alert, and very people-oriented companion. Pomeranians are known for their intelligence, sensitivity, and active personality. They are small but full of energy, curious, eager to learn, and love to share experiences with their people. At around 3–4 years old, Filipo is in the best age: the wild teenage years are behind him, his character is well-formed, and yet he brings the learning enthusiasm and adaptability of a young dog. In his foster home, Filipo is just starting to learn the dog ABC. Many everyday things are new to him: house training, leash walking, being alone, meeting other dogs, sounds in the house – all of this must be understood step by step. For his start in a new life, it is important that in the future home, loving and consistent care continues where his foster home left off. Sensitive guidance, clear routines, and positive reinforcement will ensure that Filipo quickly feels safe. Even though he is an adult, one should not expect that he can do everything – his past has not taught him everything. He will test his limits, cautiously explore new things, and occasionally forget what he has learned. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be a great support in creating a foundation for a safe, trusting relationship. Filipo gets along well with other dogs and cats. He is outgoing, playful, and loves the company of people. Walks, short play sessions, nose work for his head, or simply quiet cuddle hours – he enjoys all of this and needs it. Even small dogs like Pomeranians want to be cognitively stimulated and benefit from varied, short sessions and daily routines. Filipo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. He brings his EU pet passport and can be adopted by someone who will give this white fluff ball a loving home and guide him into his new, protected life. Many thanks to Lars and Ramon! You gave Filipo his name! Date: 05.12.

About Filipo

What life with Filipo looks like

Filipo is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Filipo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Filipo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Filipo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Filipo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Filipo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Filipo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Filipo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
