adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Filou has found a new home! His story: 06128 Halle. Little Filou is looking for a loving home. Filou is a very friendly little fellow. In 2020, the little Filou was directly flown into his family. A family tragedy changed everything. The family can no longer adequately care for Filou and asked us, for the well-being of the little Filous, to find a new family for him. Filou is approximately 35 cm tall, weighs around 7.5 kg. He gets along with all the dogs and loves to play with them. He shows no fear and is always friendly. He knows basic commands, and Filou also enjoys car rides. He is house-trained and can be left alone for some time. Filou has a slightly developed prey drive, but he can be easily called back. He is afraid of small children, but older children are no problem. The little Filou is approximately 4.5 years old, a super sweet dream dog. However, he has a small cosmetic flaw. He is neutered, and this does not in any way affect him. We do not know why he is neutered. Perhaps an accident or someone deliberately cut off his testicles. Filou was found on the street in Romania. He also had a femur fracture, which was operated on in Romania, and you can no longer tell. He is a lively little kid without any current limitations. We are looking for loving people who can give Filou time. Because Filou wants to be everywhere and experience more. Also, cuddle time should not be missing, as he enjoys it very much. Filou can be rehomed in almost any family. Children should be well-aged and accustomed to respectful dog handling. A confident single dog would also be no problem. He has not yet been tested with cats, so we cannot make a reliable statement about that. We can also present Filou to single individuals if they have a reliable backup. Filou is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. He is only rehomed after a positive match. Who will fall in love with the little Filou?

About Filou

What life with Filou looks like

Filou is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Filou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Filou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Filou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Filou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Filou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Filou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Filou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
