Findus

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Findus is a feeding station tomcat and has been through several stations. After his successful castration by the cat help, he returned to our vet station a few weeks later from the outside, as he got into an altercation with another cat and his injuries were very severe. The wound healing was poor, and it was determined that the approximately 2023-born Findus is FIV-positive. We found a foster home for Findus after he had recovered a bit. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, there was an incident between a human and the tomcat, so Findus could not stay. The trust in the otherwise very loved tomcat was broken. After further time in veterinary treatment, Findus found a chance at another foster home. He has been there since early May and has adapted very well. He lives very quietly there, coexists absolutely peacefully with older permanent-care cats, and his wounds have healed. To the foster home humans, he is only loving and shows when stroking becomes too much. He then raises his front paw, but neither extends his claws nor attacks. His body language should still be observed, and he should be given plenty of peace. For Findus, we are looking for a home that takes his history into account, brings a lot of cat experience (ideally also experience with FIV cats), and maintains the desired distance. The large tomcat gets along well with apartment living, would be very happy with a connected balcony or, even better, a secured garden. He observes us humans very closely and watches what happens in the foster home. But he also seeks out quiet corners and is then happy to be left alone. If another cat is present, it should have the same health status as Findus, i.e., be FIV-positive, and of course be compatible with other cats.

About Findus

What life with Findus looks like

Findus is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Findus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Findus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Findus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Findus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Findus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Findus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Findus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
