Findus

Male · Senior · 10 years

Findus Rasse Staff-Mix Gender Male, neutered Born in 2016 In the animal shelter since 2019 Findus has been with us in the animal shelter since 2019. He had hardly any boundaries in his previous home and wanted to set his own rules. However, Findus has developed very positively over time: He has become much calmer and shows his best side to familiar people. Findus is an alert and clever dog who doesn't like being overly restricted. With people he trusts, he shows a cuddly, playful, and clingy side. When it comes to his toys, he loves them when they are in the lead, but he can also be easily persuaded to give them up and enjoys cuddle sessions. On walks, Findus is a pleasant companion: attentive, friendly, and with a fine sense of smell. He loves to run and can be on the go for hours. Swimming is also one of his favorite activities, but he knows how nice it is to relax in between. We wish for Findus a loving, childless home without cats or small pets. With other dogs, he can be compatible depending on the relationship, so a husbandry as a second dog is also conceivable. Findus has learned a lot and deserves the chance to finally have a peaceful home where he can settle in and enjoy his golden years. If you are interested in one of our dogs, please send an email and share a few things that are interesting for a dog placement: experiences with dogs; living situation; are there children and/or other pets in the household; how long must the dog be left alone during the day. Please provide a phone number for follow-up questions.

About Findus

What life with Findus looks like

Findus is a senior dog waiting at Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg in Homburg/Saar.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Findus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Findus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Findus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Findus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Findus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Findus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ria-Nickel-Tierheim Homburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Findus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
