Fini

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Fini! I came to the shelter as part of an official takeover and am now looking for a loving home with people who want to explore the world with me. I am a very loving, friendly and affectionate young female dog. At about one year old, I am still a young Chow-Chow, but I already have my breed-typical rather quiet and laid-back character. I enjoy spending time with my humans and I love cuddling. Walks are a real joy for me. I like to take it easy, explore my surroundings, and sometimes get a real burst of energy, where I run around happily. I especially enjoy walking along small streams and enjoying a little cool down. I get along very well with other dogs. I always enjoy four-legged company during social walks and I'm happy to play a little game. Whether I get along with cats would still need to be tested individually. My beautiful coat needs a lot of attention and regular grooming. When I came to the shelter, my coat was unfortunately matted and dirty, which is why my caregivers had no choice but to shave and bathe me. In the meantime, it has grown beautifully and is already showing what a great coat it will become. My future humans should be aware that regular and intensive grooming is an essential part of my daily routine. I'll be patient and obedient with that. For my new home, I wish for loving people who enjoy accompanying a young dog on her further life's journey. I wish for walks together, cozy hours, and of course, lots of closeness and cuddle time. A previously existing, well-tolerated dog would not be a problem for me. Children are generally no problem, but they should already be older and have a calm way of dealing with dogs. If you are looking for a friendly, affectionate and at the same time laid-back companion and are not afraid to invest some time in my grooming, then please contact the shelter. I look forward to getting to know you! Your Fini

DE·Show original

Deine Fini

About Fini

What life with Fini looks like

Fini is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fini, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fini?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fini on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fini if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fini already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fini isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fini and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
