Finita

Podenco · Female · Young · 1 year

A sweet little Stubbelmaus named Finita was rescued by our Spanish animal welfare colleagues at the last minute from a so-called killing station. Her life hung by a thread - simply because she was born as a Podenco in Spain with no rights, meaning a killing would be completely legal if no owner could be found. For us, however, no race status counts, only the soul: Finita is a sentient being, just like us, who carries fears, but also endless love in her heart. Thus, thanks to dear donors, Finita has also received a "ticket out of hell" and can hopefully soon travel to Germany for a happy future! What the little dog has experienced in the past, we do not know. But despite the new, stressful situation after the move to our reception station in southern Spain in Linares, she shows herself friendly, good-natured, affectionate and compatible with her fellow dogs towards the caregivers. Typical Podenco, of course, she is also very sensitive and initially shy. Finita patiently and resignedly lets everything happen to her, always hoping that she will not be hurt. She also enjoys extensive petting, but since the time of the local animal welfare workers is unfortunately very limited, the little mouse is currently much too short. Finita longs for love, security and her own family. With her 43 cm shoulder height and currently slender 7 kg, the little Podenco-Andaluz female dog is a wonderfully handy companion. Connoisseurs know: If you offer a Podenco enough occupation, you will have a very pleasant companion after a reasonable acclimatization, who will hardly be noticeable. Podis are gentle, almost invisible housemates in the house, very socially compatible and absolute heart dogs. And every fan of this breed is absolutely sure: Once Podenco - always Podenco! If you can imagine giving Finita a new chapter of life full of affection and security, but also enough exercise for every young dog, then we are very happy about your message. Please describe your life situation briefly in your request: Who belongs to the family, how do you live, what does your everyday life look like during the week, do you have dog experience? These information help us very much in finding the right family for the little treasure. However, your future family should also be willing to personally receive the little lady in northern Bavaria - this is the place where all our protégés arrive exclusively from Spain. About Finita

What life with Finita looks like

Finita is a young adult podenco dog waiting at Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) in Vilseck.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Finita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Franz von Assisi Hundenothilfe e.V. (Hunde ohne Lobby) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
