Finja

Mixed Breed · Female

Finja is a mixed-breed female dog, probably born in early 2026, who was found abandoned along with her sisters and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. She has a very friendly and winning personality, but is initially a bit fearful of strangers and needs some time to adjust to a new environment. Once she has gained trust, she enjoys all attention, is lively, cheerful, and enthusiastic about all activities. She is intelligent and eager to learn. She would be a lovable family dog who would also feel comfortable in families with older and understanding children. Finja gets along well with her own kind, plays with them, and would be a good choice as a second dog for a playful dog. Her behavior towards cats is unknown. She is looking for loving and active people who have enough free time, can educate her patiently, and live in a rural or suburban area. Experience in dog ownership should already be available. The female dog has a shoulder height of 46 cm and weighs 16 kg.

HU·Show original

About Finja

What life with Finja looks like

Finja is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
