adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Finja can stay forever in her foster home! Finja can travel to her foster home in early April! Her story: Fantanele, Romania. Our Finja was found in an industrial area in Cluj at the beginning of last year. She was sad, tired, and begging for help. Finja was found with a tumor, which caused her a lot of suffering. The tumor was successfully removed surgically right after her rescue. Finja has been waiting ever since for her chance—to feel safe and secure for once in her life, in a home! Finja is estimated to be around 11 years old, she is friendly with people and generally gets along well with fellow animals. Her older companion Samu could travel, but Finja stayed alone. The older female dog is about 55 cm tall and has a slim build with a weight of around 22 kg. Life in the kennel is increasingly taking its toll on her bones. The freezing days in winter and the hot days in summer, and the constant stress of barking dogs in the shelter. A quiet spot, stroking hands, and people who give her time and affection—also a foster home would help her a lot! We wish our Finja a loving home that offers her a beautiful life. The beautiful female dog deserves to be able to make up for everything she has missed so far. Finja is still fit and you can still go on nice excursions and do activities with her. Finja's people should be understanding, because Finja will still have a lot to learn. She probably doesn't know what life in a household is like. But Finja is oriented towards people and will surely always show her sweet side and try to do everything right. Finja is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings her EU pet passport and can travel after a positive assessment. Who will give Finja a beautiful old age? Many thanks to Iris Sch.! You gave Finja her name and thus her identity! Heartfelt thanks to Klaus P.! You support Finja with a monthly sponsorship. As of: 20.02.

Lieben Dank Klaus P.! Du unterstützt Finja mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft. Stand: 20.02.2024

About Finja

What life with Finja looks like

Finja is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
