Finja

Pomeranian · Female · Young · 3 years

How many previous owners the Dwarf Poodle female dog Finja had, can no longer be determined, as she was likely passed from one home to the next like a traveling cup. Her last owner bought the nearly three-year-old female dog after a brief private viewing. Two days later, Finja was to be taken to the new owner’s workplace and was expected to behave. Of course, this did not work out, as the female dog did not know her new primary caregiver well enough at that time and could not build up any trust in such a short period since her purchase. Finja reacted to this multiple overloads with snapping, which in turn overwhelmed her new owner. Therefore, Finja was not even a week old when she was given to the animal shelter, as her owner could or would not take the time and patience to earn the female dog’s trust. It would have been a real small effort, as within a few days at the animal shelter, through loving affection and calm guidance, the suspicious little female dog transformed into an open, people-oriented puppy that can be touched anywhere and has not snapped once since. Finja loves to cuddle, she enjoys walks, and she is now ready for a final move into a permanent and loving home. As a Dwarf Poodle, Finja needs clear and consistent training, but she is eager to learn and wants to please her person. A visit to a good dog training class is recommended, and an enclosed garden in the future home is even a condition. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

About Finja

What life with Finja looks like

Finja is a large young adult pomeranian dog waiting at Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz in Neumarkt.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
