adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Ask about this cat now! Finley means "blonde warrior". For us, his name means something else: a golden, radiant warrior. A winner - not in battle against others, but in the battle for a better life. Finley lived in a yard where several cats were fed by a man. When he was found, he was in poor condition. A deep wound on his cheek required urgent medical care. He was treated, cared for and allowed to heal. With each day, he became stronger and showed more of his gentle, calm nature. Then came the diagnosis: Finley is FIV positive. But that doesn't change who he is. Finley is an exceptionally calm and relaxed tomcat. He loves being near people without imposing himself. His calmness touches immediately. He gets along with other cats. He has not yet met dogs. Outdoor access is not possible for him. FIV is a viral disease that can weaken the immune system. Nevertheless, FIV positive cats can reach the same age as cats that test negative. The virus is only transferable to other cats, humans and other animals cannot get infected. Transmission is only possible through severe bite wounds. An FIV positive and an FIV negative cat can live together without problems, sharing bowls and cuddling spots, provided they are socially compatible. Moreover, spaying eliminates a possible transmission through sexual contact. Outdoor access is not possible due to the illness. For his travel arrangements, Finley is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas. After a positive. Whoever gives Finley a home gives a quiet fighter safety, warmth and dignity - and in return gets a calm, loyal companion with a big heart. A heartfelt thank you to godmother Maike J, who has accompanied Finley and made his way into a new life possible. Date: 03.03.

Stand: 03.03.2026

About Finley

What life with Finley looks like

Finley is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
