Adopt Finn & Willow

Female · Young · 3 years

Finn and Willow arrived together in the autumn of 2023. Their owner was a supporter of Willows and had asked us many years back if we could look after them in the event of her death as she had no family.Sadly, she was taken seriously Ill quite suddenly and her kind neighbours, who knew how much she loved these two ponies, started looking after them and contacted us when it became apparent that she +wasn't going to be able to leave the hospital. Arrangements were made for the pair to be transported to the sanctuary and in the meantime their owner's health was deteriorating. The bad weather and storms we experienced around that time meant there were one or two delays with moving them. Finally, things settled and their move went ahead and they were transported to Willows. They arrived here safely. We found out later that day through one of her friends that their owner had died just as the ponies were being loaded up onto the horse box. He said that it almost felt like she knew that they were safe and she could slip peacefully away knowing that they would be cared for by Willows. This moved many of us to tears and we are so glad that we were able to help look after her precious pets and provide them both with a safe home.

About Finn & Willow

What life with Finn & Willow looks like

Finn & Willow is a young adult horse waiting at Willows Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finn & Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finn & Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Willows Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finn & Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finn & Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Willows Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finn & Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most horses on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finn & Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Willows Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finn & Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
