Finn

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 4 years

Finn, a Malinois mix, is a dog with a story who is looking for a future. Finn was found in very poor condition—emaciated and tied to a tree, left to his fate. The approximately 5-year-old Malinois mix has now recovered well and currently lives in a Spanish partner animal shelter, where he stands out positively. Finn is very well socialized and gets along particularly well with both male and female dogs. In dog groups, he takes on a mediating role, behaves submissively and avoids conflicts—a quality that makes him a stabilizing member of the group. Finn also shows himself open, friendly, and cooperative with people. He enjoys closeness, seeks contact on his own, is open, affectionate, and likes to work (and has even earned a favorite status with his dog trainer). Finn already has some basics: He walks very well on a leash and is even calm in the kennel (which many dogs find difficult). However, we do not know how well he would cope in a household life. It is possible that Finn may need some support here. Also to note: Finn is a Malinois mix and has corresponding breed-specific characteristics. He needs meaningful stimulation—both physically and mentally—and clear structures. A home with experience in handling working dogs or the willingness to thoroughly educate oneself about the breed would be ideal. For Finn, we wish a stable environment with clear leadership, where he can be challenged as well as have time to relax. As a single dog or in a suitable multi-dog household, he can certainly fit in well and start the dog life he deserves so much! If you are aware of what comes with adopting a shelter dog and have fallen for his eyes, please contact the responsible adopter of SALVA Dog Help. We and Finn would also be very grateful for the provision of a foster home! Here are Finn's videos: Video 1 and Video 2.

DE·Show original

About Finn

What life with Finn looks like

Finn is a adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
