Adopt Henry

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 3 years

The young Malinois male dog Henry came to us via the veterinary office. Typical of the breed, he is not a dog who seeks relaxation and certainly not a character for inexperienced people. He needs intensive mental stimulation. So far, he has shown a friendly attitude towards people — albeit very stormily. He can be calmed or intercepted with a quiet voice and gentle stroking. He loves to cuddle. Currently, one must say that he has brought some construction sites with him: Health: When he came to us, we had his rolling eyelids operated on. The operation went well. More importantly, to mention his behaviors: Typical of the breed, Henry immediately hits the gas pedal. He wants to chase everything that is fast. Meaning: cars, bicycles, and very likely also joggers — and with full commitment. Additionally, he is not particularly friendly with other dogs and also shows a full body commitment on the leash. In these situations, he tends to jump on people. Therefore, he wears a muzzle while on a walk. This he also knew: meaning, he wears the muzzle very well. A car chase, dog sports, or something similar would be optimal for Henry and recommended so that he can release his stormy energy. Vet visits and examinations go well, but he wears a muzzle for protection, as he clearly warns when he has had enough. We wish for Henry people with breed experience or who already have experience with similar behaviors. Children should not be in the household. shoulder height ca.

Er will allem hinter her, was schnell ist.

About Henry

What life with Henry looks like

Henry is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Tierheim Heppenheim in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Heppenheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Heppenheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Heppenheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
