Fiona

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 2 years

Fiona came into our care after being abandoned outside the RSPCA one cold night, along with her two kittens. Despite her own ordeal, she was a wonderful mum, taking such loving care of her babies and making sure they had everything they needed. Now, with her kittens cared for, it's Fiona's turn to be someone's special girl. She deserves a family of her own who will cherish her, shower her with love and help her put her difficult start behind her. Fiona is a very friendly girl who absolutely adores cuddles. She would love nothing more than to curl up on the sofa with her new family, enjoying all the fuss, affection and comfort she deserves. All Fiona really needs is someone to restore her faith in humans and show her that she is safe, loved and never going to be abandoned again. In return, you will gain a loving and loyal companion who will be so happy to share her life with you. Fiona can live with older primary school-aged children. Could you be the special person who gives Fiona the happy ending she deserves?

About Fiona

What life with Fiona looks like

Fiona is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA York Home in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA York Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA York Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fiona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA York Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
