adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this cat! Fitz has found a home! His story: Fitz is an approximately six-month-old tomcat who, along with his brothers Fips and Sindbad, arrived from Romania to Germany at the end of December. In his foster home, he has settled in very well and shows himself to be a quiet, affectionate kitten with a particularly fine sense for his surroundings. Of the three brothers, Fitz is the most reserved, but not at all fearful. He observes first, often lets the others take the lead, and does not push himself to the center. Once he has made up his mind, however, he is fully present, and very present in his own gentle way. Fitz loves to snuggle closely with his brothers and also seeks the closeness of people. He especially likes to climb onto someone's lap or even onto a person to get cuddles and attention. He is cuddly, gentle in handling, and simply a little heartbreaker for all who appreciate gentle sounds. Other cats, friendly dogs, and strangers do not pose a problem for Fitz. Like his brothers, he is playful, curious, and age-appropriate active, but also enjoys quiet moments full of closeness. A later release is possible after appropriate acclimation. None of the three brothers wants to be alone. Therefore, Fitz will not be rehomed in single ownership. Either an approximately equal-aged cat already lives in the new home, or he may move in with one of his brothers or, very gladly, with all three. During his move, Fitz has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He of course brings an EU pet passport with him. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Fitz

What life with Fitz looks like

Fitz is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fitz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fitz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fitz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fitz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fitz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fitz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fitz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
